Encryption Day 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Global Encryption Day 2021 was an opportunity for businesses, civil society organizations, technologists, and millions of Internet users worldwide to show their communities why encryption matters to all of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Global Encryption Day 2021:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Community members held over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalencryption.org\/events\/ged\/2021-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">70 events worldwide<\/a>.<\/li><li>168 organizations signed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalencryption.org\/events\/ged\/2021-statement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Encryption Day Statement<\/a> calling on governments and the private sector to reject efforts to undermine encryption.<\/li><li>Nine companies shared stories about why they\u2019re proud to offer end-to-end encrypted services to their customers.\u00a0<\/li><li>More than 2.4 million people visited our Make the Switch campaign website or played our <a href=\"https:\/\/whoslistening.globalencryption.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Who\u2019s Listening<\/a> game, learning more about why encryption is critical to our lives.\u00a0<\/li><li>Thousands of people watched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KrYvzIfY8_w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Encryption Day Press Conference<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li><li>More than 140 media articles were published highlighting the importance of end-to-end encryption and the challenges facing encryption, including in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/10\/22\/edward-snowden-warns-weakening-encryption-would-be-colossal-mistake.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNBC<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/times-letters-heat-pumps-and-the-governments-green-plan-qp8qghcw6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Times<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/10\/21\/watch-edward-snowden-launch-global-encryption-day-live-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TechCrunch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euractiv.com\/section\/data-protection\/news\/whistleblowers-are-impossible-without-encryption-edward-snowden-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Euractiv<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/edward-snowden-warns-encryption-is-under-attack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Next
